We build community through organic gardening projects in the Pikes Peak region. Our demonstration vegetable gardens, educational classes, community and school gardens help provide the resources necessary to grow their own organic food. In 2011, we are excited to launch the Harrison School District Urban Garden. With the support of the school district, the local YMCA, LiveWell Colorado Springs and you, we will provide classes, gardens and food for thousands of students.

Last year we were unable to get a single onion plant to grow in our plot… we have researched the problems and have concluded that the wire worms were killing the young plants before they could mature. We had similar mortality with lettuce. The wire worms, we believe, migrated from turf in the bottom of our raised bed. We have been trapping them with potatoes, carrots and traps baited with whole wheat flour..
